Team Collaboration Software: Why is Microsoft Teams Growing so Fast?

Microsoft Teams entered the team collaboration software market just over two years ago, in that time the platform has experienced tremendous growth globally, driven by rapid new feature development and deployment. Teams is now used in over 500,000 organizations world-wide, including in 91 of the Fortune 100 companies. Here's why...

What is Microsoft Teams?

Teams is the flagship communication and collaboration tool from Microsoft. The platform was created with mobility in mind and designed to suit the communication and collaboration needs of the emerging mobile workforce. It facilitates cross team collaboration.

Teams is the fastest growing Microsoft business application of all-time and there's no sign of a slow down anytime soon. Microsoft has been rolling out new features to the Teams platform, faster than they ever have for any other product. The scalability and architecture of the platform is what allowed the company to unveil more than 100 new features over a 6 month period. The company unveiled 8 more features just last week.

Two of my favorite new features are the live background blur and custom background feature and the white board feature.

Three Benefits of Team Collaboration for Your Organization

Microsoft built the Teams application to make collaboration and communication a readily accessible opportunity that compliments the Office 365 portfolio. Cloud users working from the office or remotely, can dive into the hub of communication where everything you require to work on a project can be organized and accessed.

Working on team projects just got a whole lot easier. With Microsoft Teams you can incorporate all of the programs that you already use into a single place for you to work on collaborative projects.

Our favorite benefits are:

  1. Optimized for collaboration -- The Teams platform empowers employees to collaborate in the ways that best suit them. That could mean annotating documents on the whiteboard or co-authoring files in Microsoft Office. With Teams, everyone can do their best work, together.
  2. Focused on security -- With the roll out of Windows 10, Microsoft has taken a whole new approach to security, adding on layers of protection and incorporating multi-factor authentication. Teams comes complete with built-in safeguards to keep your data safe on the platform. Teams and the entire Office 365 suite meet the compliance standards of ISO 27001, HIPAA, ISO 27018, and more.
  3. Intuitive meeting tools -- The Teams application supports many options for meeting and communicating including voice chat, video conferencing, instant messaging, and more. Not only that, but Teams syncs with your Office 365 calendar, tracking your appointments and suggesting meeting times based on the availability of other group members.
